Considered to be one of the GTA's most affluent and beautiful towns

Welcome to King

One of the best places to live in Canada.

With a population of approximately 25,000 residents, King is considered to be one of the GTA's most affluent and beautiful towns. Here, you will find high household incomes, luxury real estate, stunning rolling hills, lush forests, green spaces, many golf courses, and horse and cattle farms. Nestled just north of Vaughan and just west of Richmond Hill and Aurora, King is minutes from Highway 400, connecting it with the rest of the GTA. Some of the most well-known communities that reside in the town of King include King City, Nobleton, and Schomberg.

King began as a settlement in 1836. In 1853, the King train station was built, further connecting it to neighbouring towns. The addition of the railroad helped the settlement expand until, in 1890, King was incorporated. It has steadily evolved to become one of the most sought-after places to live in Ontario. From Victorian-style homes to charming bungalows, King is home to a plethora of architectural styles.

People and Lifestyle

One of the most appealing aspects of living in King is its location—it’s situated approximately 50 kilometres north of Downtown Toronto and just beyond Richmond Hill. A growing residential community, residents enjoy all the conveniences of the city with the charm of a small town.

Surrounded by luscious green space, King is the perfect place for families and nature lovers alike. The town is continuing to grow and develop as more people choose to live in a quieter neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As a result, developers have recognized the potential of this area, and council members are working on a housing action plan to increase housing supply to ensure homeowners can purchase the homes they want.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

King might be a relatively small town, but that doesn’t mean it lacks places to eat and things to do! The central King City area contains a variety of neighbourhood amenities that include supermarkets, a post office, banks, several restaurants, and the area’s primary and secondary schools. Not only that, but the area is also the location of the King City GO station, which allows commuters to reach Union Station in 46 minutes via train.

For an upscale evening out, head over to The Kings’ Plate. This established dining institution is renowned for its authentic Italian dishes. For scrumptious pastries and coffee, try The Roost Cafe. Their cozy and laid-back atmosphere will make you instantly feel at home.
