Welcome to Stouffville

A picturesque town immersed in nature.

With a population of approximately 46,000, Stouffville is a fast-growing primarily urban community that forms part of the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario. The town’s residents live in a comfortable, spacious area of 200 sq. km with close access to nature, recreation, hospitals, retail shopping plazas, and proximity to the GTA.

Stouffville was established in the early 1800s as a hamlet by American-born Abraham Stouffer. To honour his work in the development of the area, the hamlet was named Stoufferville but was changed to Stouffville for simplicity a few years later when the local post office was established in 1832. The town continued to expand and was officially incorporated in 1877. Due to the village’s small size, a decision was made to amalgamate Whitchurch Township with Stouffville. Today, the town of Whitchurch–Stouffville consists of several distinct communities and the intermediary countryside: Stouffville, Ballantrae, Bethesda, Bloomington, Cedar Valley, Gormley, Lemonville, and more.
